Security Deposits

Some equipment owners may require a security deposit before releasing rental equipment. If a security deposit is required, the amount will be shown as part of the rental requirements.

The security deposit will be collected through Grip Marketplace as part of the rental process and held for the duration of the rental.

After the equipment has been returned and the rental is completed without any applicable charges, the security deposit will be released or refunded according to the rental terms.

If the rental is canceled, the security deposit will be fully refunded.

If there is an issue with the returned equipment, the security deposit may be held while the matter is reviewed and resolved.

Security deposits are separate from Grip Marketplace Protection and any Certificate of Insurance (COI) requirements.

Certificate of Insurance (COI)

A Certificate of Insurance (COI) is a document issued by an insurance company confirming that you have active liability and/or equipment insurance. Some equipment owners on Grip Marketplace may require a COI before releasing rental equipment.

If a COI is required, review the owner's requirements carefully, including:

Required insurance limits Whether the equipment owner must be listed as an Additional Insured Required coverage for rented or borrowed equipment Dates the certificate must cover

The equipment owner's requirements will be shown on the rental listing.

Grip Marketplace Protection

Grip Marketplace Protection

Grip Marketplace Protection is a damage waiver designed to provide protection against eligible theft and damage to rented equipment.

If an equipment owner requires Grip Marketplace Protection, the renter will select the required protection amount and pay the applicable fee through Grip Marketplace as part of the rental process.

If the rental is canceled, the Grip Marketplace Protection fee will be fully refunded.

A renter deductible applies in the event of eligible theft or damage. Protection amounts and deductibles are based on the option selected for the rental.
